I chose that ending as it reflects on people personalities and behaviour and it is more realistic than if I chose the other one.Imagine, if you were the princess,would you help the lover or will you think that if you could not have him ,nobody could.(Do not forget, you are a semi-barbaric king's daughter and the lover will be forced to marry the beautiful maiden if he were to choose that.)I doubt that you would help the lover either.You would also choose to let the tiger eat him, right?
But, the princess must have gone through some serious thinking before letting the tiger eat the lover.(In my story) She must have already accept the fact that the lover was going to die in front of her and it was all her doing.This shows that she really a semi-barbaric princess. Sometimes,loving someone may have a price.

i agree with you, jun yi,that the princess let the lover open the door with the tiger behind because the king was a semi-babaric one,so the princess would have some babaric blood in her and she would think that only she could have him and no one else could.
